Third Energy Day International Congress 2014

• The Third International Congress of “Energy Day” took place on Tuesday 14 October 2014, at Westin Hotel for the third consecutive year, organized by Laub & Quijandría Consultants and Lawyers, firm specializing in providing legal advice and technical and economic consulting in the Energy Sector – electricity, gas and oil.
In this occasion, the main issue in the Energy Day was the “Energy Development and Regional Integration”, bringing together main executives, managers and officials responsible for decision-making in electricity, oil, petrochemical, natural gas companies, financial and industrial entities and senior government authorities, allowing the creation of spaces for discussion and reflection about the presentations and round tables presented.

WELCOME
The innaguration of the event was in charge of Dr. Anthony Laub Benavides, spartner of Laub & Quijandría Consultants and Lawyers. He enhanced the work of Dr. Jaime Quijandría who as Minister of Energy and Mines was promoter of Camisea Project, the first mega project in energy and a key element for the country’s growth and development. During his tenure, the concession for 30 years of the main electrical networks in the country was settled on. Additionally, the transmission line Zorritos – Machala of 220 kV that connects Peru and Ecuador was implemented, which is the first regional energy integration project.
CONCLUSIONS
The audience discussed intensely all the program issues and some of the most important conclusions and recommendations were: (i) drive of development of key projects as Camisea; (ii) institutionalization of planning as a mechanism of public-private agreement; (iii) urgency of taking decisions to implement key energy infrastructure projects and (iv) need to accelerate the penetration of renewable energy in the long term energy matrix.
